David’s December Ramble

Welcome to festivities, celebrations and much feasting. Diwali, Hallow-e’en, Bonfire night, then Christmas beckons us to more eating and celebrating. Here in Louth we have our monthly feast.

October saw 20 members being informed of the work by, and the needs of, the Skegness lifeboat team. They need not just bravery but also funds. Most of us were shocked to hear that there is no government support for this essential service. The members’ generosity was shown as the collecting boxes were visited and then again at lunch when they generously paid for the lunch of a member celebrating being old. I

n November members again will be feasting. At Uncle Henry’s for breakfast then following a challenging route to lunch. We do not have a club run in December nor January. Instead we shall be feasting in January at our annual lunch preceded by the club AGM.
In the meantime some members have had other experiences. Wayne and Beverley, are back from their grand tour of Spain and Portugal. Steve is still awaiting the return of his car from a breakdown driving back from Angouleme in south west France. Mike and Julie are removing the hood from his TF to enable some work to be done while he uses the hardtop. Simon has now had his clutch slave cylinder replaced after being stranded in a pub carpark. How convenient some would say. David has a new windscreen after the newly gritted roads chipped and cracked the original.

Recently some of us visited Heckington Mill which will be the finishing venue for the 2025 Viking Run. An exciting venue, not just a unique 8 sailed working windmill, but also a cafe and brewery on site as well as the Tuxford Steam engine. Full details will be on the website soon. Enjoy Feasting.

Happy motoring,

David
