David’s June Update
So much sunshine this month we could become blasé but by the time you read this the weather may have changed. We in Louth hope not as we are having a very busy year. We have just completed our Drive-it Day run starting from the Lincolnshire Transport Museum and ending at a very good hostelry in Donnington-on-Bain for lunch. Then, a week later in May, we visited Papplewick Classic car and Steam event. Later in the month we visited “Just Jane”, the famous Lancaster Bomber, at the Lincolnshire Aviaton Centre. The month ended with visits to a vintage agricultural show.
June begins on the 1st with the Louth Lions Classic Car show, followed the next day by a talk at our club evening by John from Mr Tyre who will be answering all those questions about puncture self sealing systems, runflat tyres and sealed spoked wheels to do away with the need for inner tubes fitted.
Later in June we have our annual run and BBQ along with a raffle to raise funds for this year’s chosen charities, The Rock Foundation and the Heckington Mill Trust. A major part of our club ethos is supporting organisations doing work we ourselves as individuals cannot do. We shall support these chosen charities by some fund raising throughout the year.
Many clubs organise an annual major event, and ours is The Viking Run, which we have held for many years. This year it is on Sunday 13th July. We have received a good number of entries, many from people who have done the run several times and enjoy exploring the hidden rural roads of the Lincolnshire Wolds and Fens. We still have some places left although numbers are limited so make your application very soon.
