David’s November Ramble

November is here and, to misquote Keats, “The season of moists and mellow frightfulness”. We shall be out for our monthly run beginning with a breakfast at dawn (Isn’t dawn just before 9 at this time of year?). Then a run with tops up through the rain and mist to a warm hostelry serving a proper Sunday roast lunch. Followed by idleness as we let the food and drink settle before setting off for home.

Of course with our changing weather patterns we could equally be driving around in the sunshine applying liberal quantities of sun cream wearing sunglasses. One can but hope! On our part of the coast it is time for the seals to have their pups so we shall have a visit to the local colony to see how they are all progressing before having another lunch in another hostelry. November is beginning to sound like a time to absorb all those extra calories to keep the cold and the damp out. In the months prior to November we have had a busy time.

In October several of us met at Farmer Brown’s for breakfast. Here we had a wonderful choice ranging from Traditional English, to sandwiches to cakes to icecreams. Without question most if not all choices were sampled. Then on to the Skegness RNLI station for a tour of the facilities. Fortunately we didn’t have to sample a rough sea launch nor attempt a rescue. With admiration we heard of the bravery and determination of the actual crew and some of their experiences. Then time for lunch!

During September we dispersed our donations to our chosen charities, the last one being £1000 to Bransby Horse Centre who look after rescued and abandoned horses. We have now raised and donated £2250 this year. Happy Motoring.

Happy motoring,

David
