What’s to come in January 2023
Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year of motoring and MG activities and good health with which to enjoy it all. In December, we do not do much. We have our monthly meeting at the beginning of the month then return to our firesides, chuck on another log and sit back with our favourite tipple. Or so some members would have us believe. Others are tinkering in chilly garages, some are well wrapped and driving around the countryside. Maybe they are seeking suitable Christmas trees, which will fit in the MG. Maybe in search of that thing called “Christmas Cheer”, sometimes an elusive phantom. Maybe they are attempting some last minute shopping or perhaps attempting to plant ideas for presents in other’s heads. Whatever the motive they are out and about on those dry crisp days.
In November twenty of us met for lunch at the Kings Head in Tealby. Eleven of us met earlier for coffee/breakfast at a garden centre which attempted to put us in the Christmas mood with all their decorations displayed. Then we set off to follow the designated route but appear to have veered from it in a variety of directions but all eventually arriving at the luncheon venue to join those who had arrived directly from home. We decorated the car park with a variety of MGs, some with tops off.
In January we shall be holding our AGM. This takes place immediately before our club Annual Lunch and we hope for a good turnout and maybe some surprises. We then continue with our planned winter programme of short runs followed by lunch in a variety of hostelries. Now we’ve passed Diwali, Bonfire night and Christmas, we shall soon return, with the sun, to our traditional picnics.
