Welcome to the Louth MG Owners Club
We are a community of MG and classic car owners based in Louth, Lincolnshire. Originally founded in 1991 by Alan Low, the club aimed to help and assist members with any problems they encountered.
The Club’s History
In 1991 Alan Low bought his MGB Roadster. With the help of the Grimsby MG Owners Club he formed the Louth MG Owners Club.
In the early days of the club the aim was just to help and assist members with any problems that they encountered. The club now embraces owners in the area who have any make of classic car, not just an MG.
Starting in 1995, with the aim of raising money for charity, the club’s first annual Viking Run was held where club members and anyone else who would like to participate drive from Louth to an interesting destination including Lincoln Castle, Heckington Windmill and many more. Find out more about the Viking Runs here.
In 2016 the club relocated from the Louth Golf Club to The Brackenborough Hotel, Cordeaux Corner, louth LN11 0SZ It was also agreed that meetings would be on the 1st Monday of the month at 7.30pm.

David's April Update
We are ready for April bringing warm sunny spring weather (we hope). Some will have
observed Ramadan and celebrated Eid al-Fitr and our cars are out of hibernation. Or are
you one of those still attempting to finish off those jobs supposedly done in the winter?
Drive it Day later this month is the target to have all our cars out on show driving around
the countryside. We of Louth MGOC will be heading for breakfast and a visit at the
Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum then attempting to follow directions to our lunch
venue. We shall be waving to other MGs and all classic cars we meet on our travels, some
may even find the headlight switch and flash!
In the past 2 months we have had some fascinating speakers at our club evening. In
February Stewart Parker, well known in the veteran, vintage and classic car world ,regaled
us with tales and pictures of cars. bikes and exploits. Stewart provided an insight into the
classic car auction scene with tales of vehicles consigned, donated, sold and also of
buyers reactions.
We donate our club’s carbon footprint contribution to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for their
work in environmental conservation which includes much carbon capture work. In March
Matt Blissett will be telling us of some aspects of his role as the Trust’s warden for the
Outer Humber and coast.
In April we shall hear Simon telling tales of his ancestor during the search for the North
Pole and attempts to find the Northwest Passage round Canada.
In February we started our club runs with a run carefully planned by Chris in the south of
our area. Followed by Steve in March exploring northern breakfast and lunch venues. We
travel west for Drive-it-Day planned by Gerry. Thankyou to you three.
David's March Update
Now we are in to Spring and our cars are back out on the monthly club runs and our
entries are posted for all the summer one-off and special runs and shows. This month our
run is on Sunday 16th with details to members nearer the date.
The year looks very busy with several new events to try as well as established ones. Sometimes we join with other areas for our monthly run, at the same time offering our support to those organisers and
clubs. Other events we visit as individuals, enjoying the run to a different part of the country. Within this busy schedule we all have to plan and take our own special trips. This spring we have members exploring various parts of Britain, some are touring Spain and Portugal, other members will be driving to Southern Italy and making contact with MGOC members in that country. What a wonderful network of international contacts is provided through the MGOC. When planning a club weekend away do club organisers consider tapping in to the local knowledge of the specific area club, even to obtain information on accommodation, sights or venues to visit? Also when travelling abroad it is always
comforting to know of a sympathetic contact if things go wrong with the car.
Thinking of MG motoring events we in Louth have the details for entry for the 29th Viking Run. Details
and application forms on our website. This year our finishing venue is the 8 sailed Heckington Windmill. Entry includes a tour of the Mill which also has a visitor centre, tea room and brewery, plus gardens, picnic area, on-site bakehouse and museum. A perfect day out for everyone. However, this year our numbers will be restricted so ensure you have your entry in quickly.
