David’s May Update

Viking Run applications this year are limited as the finish venue has restricted parking.
Also, only limited rooms are available at the start hotel for those planning to stop over for
part or all of the weekend, so ensure you have your application in quickly.

25 members took part in the March club run to the Kings Head at Tealby, some members
seemed to travel the distance very quickly. Was this someone taking a short cut rather
than following the planned scenic route?

At the club meeting in March we heard Matt Blissett speaking of his work with the Donna
Nook seal colony and other work in the area. It is always fascinating to hear of the varied
animal and environmental work carried out on behalf of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust to
whom we donate our Carbon Footprint Fund.

This month we have had members trying different motoring experiences. While Simon has
been attempting some stunt driving, several other members have taken their cars away to
various parts of western Europe, as well as to a variety of locations, without having to cross
(or dip under) the Channel or the North Sea. Whether the journey is short or long there is
always that little niggle of “will there be a problem?”. If there is it can always make a good
tale for a club night when one is assured of sympathy and derision in equal parts from
members!

Our May club meeting will be on Tuesday 6th, as the Monday is a Bank Holiday and some
members will be attending events, including Papplewick, for the Classic Cars and Steaming
Day.

Our May picnic run will be to Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby
and requires candelabra and granny’s tea service with sandwiches and cakes (sunshine
ordered!!).
