Simon’s May Update
Spring seems to have arrive at last. After a mix of sunny spells one day and wind and rain the next herre in Lincolnshire, we are looking forward to the summer getting out and about enjoying our cars. Unfortunately, our speaker at our March meeting, Nathan-the-Headlamp Man, was unable to join us through illnes, but we hope to welcome him later in the year. We had a most enjoyable run out on the 22nd March, starting at Uncle Henry’s for coffee, with 15 people attending in 8 cars, then travelling to Skendleby for ann excellent lunch.
In May we are to have a presentation by Neville Wright of the Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes, an emergency service by volunteer bikers providing urgent medical items delivered to our local hospitals. Neville is to bring his bike for us to look at the equipment carried with it.
Plans for our 30th annual Viking Run on Sunday 12th July in aid of our local charities are progressing and we are planning to start from the Brakenborough Hotel, finishing at the Dogdike Pumping Station in Tattershall. Limited to 60 cars (not just MGs) we have exclusive use of the site, with the 1856 Steam Beam Engine in steam pumping water from the land into the River Witham. Entries are coming in now so please get yours in quickly – louthmgoc.co.uk/events/viking-run-2026. We hope this awful war in Iran will end soon and fuel prices stabilise enabling us to enjoy our cars to the full. Drive safely – we hope to see you again soon.
