What’s to Come in May 2022
Spring/Summer! What a wonderful time to devote a few days to touring the countryside in our MGs. In May some of us will be visiting the wonderful Victorian Papplewick Pumping Station. Described so eloquently by Fred Dibner in his television programme. It is a rare opportunity to be able to see this incredible piece of engineering actually working and at the same time join a large gathering of classic car owners. We just hope for a fine sunny day.
Also in May we have a club run with picnic planned for the 15th so bring out the fine porcelain along with the candelabra, multi-tiered cake stand and fancy tablecloth.
After a very damp and windy February outing we had a much more civilised event in March. Twenty members had a leisurely lunch at the Chequers’ Inn, an ideal location for their visit just up the road at the Bateman’s Brewery. No members have been reported missing therefore the libations of the navigators in verifying the quality of the various offerings did not affect the homeward instincts of the drivers.
The March club evening heard how 2 of our members discovered MGs. Unfortunately despite appearing in good condition they required extensive work. However we are all aware that this enables one to create a car which may match more closely your personal tastes and driving needs. A process known to many of modification and adaptation which only seems to end when bank accounts are empty.
The VIKING RUN will soon be here. Places are limited so make sure that you submit your application without delay. This provides you with a special opportunity to visit a wonderful museum as well as enjoying a run out in your MG and enjoy the company of other fellow enthusiasts.
Happy motoring.
